The British Virgin Islands (BVI’s) is one of the most popular sailing destinations within the Caribbean. Tortola is the largest island in the British Virgin Islands and has the largest population. It is also the most developed with the most shops, restaurants, hotels and yacht charter operators. Other islands within the BVI’s include Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, Norman, Peter Island and Anegada. Popular activities include kayaking, scuba diving and swimming at the Baths at Virgin Gorda.
The main yacht charter season for the BVI’s runs from November through to April. The BVI’s is the perfect cruising area for the inexperienced yachtsman or for one’s first visit to the Caribbean, as it offers short island hops with line of sight sailing in protected waters.
