    Sailing Conditions tend to prevail North to 20 knots in Ionian Sea increasing to 25 knots in the Sardonic in July and August. In the Sporades prevailing northerly but weaker than in the southern Aegean. Meltemi North East to 30 (plus) knots in July and August in the Cyclades and the Dodecanese. Open waters with waves to 2 metres in some areas. Generally protected waters in the Sporades.

  • Dodecanese

    Rhodes, Kos, Patmos and Samos are only four islands of this group and three of them have an airport. All have something to offer the visitor and each year they are explored by visitors who arrive by air and sea. Sailing in this area is extremely rewarding with a rich history of conquest and change.

    Charter bases operate from Kos, Samos and Rhodes.


    The Cyclades in the Aegean Sea, south east of the mainland of Greece is comprised of approximately 220 islands.  Most well-known are Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Ios, Kea, Kythnos, Mykonos, and Santorini. The area is known for the Meltemi - winds which usually blow strongest in July and August but can surprise unsuspecting sailors any time during the summer months.

    Saronic Gulf

    Athens main port of Piraeus lies on the north eastern edge of the gulf. The Saronic Gulf includes the islands of Poros, Salamis, Aegina, Hydra and Spetses.

    The Sporades

    Islands in the Sporades include Skiathos, Skyros, Alonnisos and Skopelos. Unusually green and wooded with crystal clear waters this is a beautiful cruising area.

    The Ionian

    This cruising area includes islands such as Corfu, Kephalonia, Lefkas, Ithaca, Kythera, Zante and Paxi. 

    The Ionian boasts some of the best beaches in Greece and the Blue Grotto which is a famous attraction. The winds are usually very calm in the Ionian making it a wonderful sailing destination for less experienced sailors.
