Yes, you do require a license to charter a yacht, however, the level of qualification varies between sailing regions. During the peak of the charter season it is often difficult to organise charters that are less than 7 days, but feel free to enquire with us. Outside of peak season charters of less than 7 days are possible.

In the Mediterranean the majority of charters will begin and end on a Saturday, other charter locations are a little more flexible.

How do I know the charter yacht will be in good condition?
At Mariner Boating, we regularly inspect our yachts and only use suppliers that provide a high level of service and take care of their fleet methodically. Over the years we have built a comprehensive portfolio of preferred charter operators who have proved their competence and with whom we have a personal relationship.

What sort of insurance do I need to charter a yacht, are the boats insured?
On top of your charter fee, you also will be required to pay a security deposit. Depending on the charter operator this deposit may be refundable, reduced (by a waiver) or a minimal non-refundable amount. The security deposit is the charter operator's insurance excess for the yacht, so this will be the total amount you are liable for if any damage or loss occurs to the yacht during your charter.

We strongly recommend that your travel insurance policy provide cover against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of US$200,000 for each of the heads of cover. We also strongly recommend that it cover cancellation, personal liability and loss of luggage or personal effects.

What type of payment do you accept?
We accept direct deposit, cheque and credit card. Please note that credit card surcharges may apply.
